Evelyn F. Sidelinger, 99, of Waldoboro, died Feb. 17 at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta.
She was born Dec. 28, 1912 in Washington, a daughter of the late Charles and Ruth (Nattson) Sukeforth. On Jan. 12, 1932 she married the late Harlan Sidelinger in Washington.
Mrs. Sidelinger was a graduate of Washington High School. She worked on the family farm raising her family. During WWII she worked as an Air-Raid Warden with her sister. She was a member of the Women’s Guild, Senior Citizens and the Washington School Committee. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, keeping a journal, crocheting, cooking, family and spending time at the lake. She was a life-long member of the Washington Village Church and in recent years has attended the Waldoboro United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of more than 62 years; sister, Medeline Miller; and son-in-law, Robert Harkins.
Mrs. Sidelinger is survived by sons, David Sidelinger and companion Greta Crabtree of Inverness, Fla., Douglas Sidelinger and wife Nancy of Canaan, and Scott Sidelinger and wife Sue of West Gardiner; daughters, Harlean Jordan and husband Robert of Nokomis, Fla. and Warren, and Sylvia Harkins of Waldoboro; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a service to celebrate Evelyn’s life 1 p.m., Sun., March 4 at the Waldoboro United Methodist Church, 93 Friendship St., Waldoboro. The Rev. Jennifer Curran will officiate. Interment will be in the Levensaler Cemetery.
