Ewing Francis Williams, 78, of Waldoboro, died Aug. 9 at his home, following a brief illness.
He was born in Kansas City, Mo., April 4, 1928, a son of Ewing C. and Blanche Williams and has resided in Waldoboro since 1999.
Ewing attended the University of Missouri and worked for many years as national sales manager for Kimball Systems, a division of Litton Industries. Throughout his business career, he lived with his family in Mission, Kan., St. Louis, Mo., Kansas City, Mo., Dallas, Tex., New Orleans, La., Atlanta, Ga., and for thirty years in Morris Plains, N.J., where he commuted to New York City.
Ewing was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Morris Plains, N.J. and served as Junior and Senior Warden. Upon moving to Maine, he transferred his membership to St. John Baptist Episcopal Church in Thomaston. He was also a member of the Lions Club of Waldoboro.
Ewing was a wonderful storyteller. He especially enjoyed golf, gardening, reading and was a special fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and later the New England Patriots.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Dona Knight Williams; four children, Thomas Williams and wife Joanne of Armonk, N.Y., Rev. Mary Grace Williams of Wilton, Conn., Donald Williams and wife Lily of Trenton, N.J., and Jane Williams-Scheider and husband Carl of Caversham, UK and Vienna, Va.; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral service Aug. 11 at St. John Baptist Episcopal Church in Thomaston with committal service Aug. 12 at the German Cemetery in Waldoboro.
