Faye Eunice Winchenbach, 78, of Waldoboro, passed away Oct. 2 at St. Andrews Hospital in Boothbay Harbor after a period of failing health.
Faye was born on Oct. 1, 1932 in Waldoboro, a daughter of the late Millard and Ruth Studley Winchenbach.
She attended local schools and was a graduate of Waldoboro High School. After high school she went to work in Boston for a Baptist church.
After moving back to Maine, she began to work at her brother Earl’s store and motel. After working for her brother, she worked at the Medomak Canning Factory in Waldoboro and Port Clyde Packing in Port Clyde, and Depositors Trust in Waldoboro. She was the organist at the Waldoboro Baptist Church for many years and also played piano at summer Vacation Bible schools throughout the area. In her later years, she took care of her parents at the family homestead as their health began to fade.
Faye enjoyed knitting, writing letters to friends, and playing the piano and organ. While in high school she enjoyed playing basketball and the family said that she was pretty good at it.
She was predeceased by her parents, Millard and Ruth; brothers, Earl Winchenbach, Virgil Winchenbach, and Rodney Winchenbach; and sister, Elsie Martin.
Survivors include her great-nephew, Tim and wife Michelle of Waldoboro; great-great-nieces, Kathleen and Samantha Winchenbach of Waldoboro; sister, Arlene Burns of Nobleboro; brother, Roy and wife Cynthia of Waldoboro; neighbors, John and Joanne Gatcombe, and Nicole and Juju Tremblay, all of Waldoboro; caretakers, Jessica and Nancy from Round Pond Green; and several nieces, nephews, great- nieces and nephews, and many special friends.
Visiting hours 5-7p.m., Tues., Oct. 5 at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro.
Graveside service 10:30 a.m., Wed., Oct. 6 at the German Cemetery in Waldoboro.
