Fayette “Twig” Branch died peacefully on Sept. 22.
He was born in Utica, N.Y. on July 13, 1924. He grew up in Amherst, Mass., was educated at local schools, and graduated from Amherst College and Tufts Dental School.
He served in the Navy during WWII and in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He practiced orthodontia in Northampton, Mass. and Amherst, Mass. for many years before retiring to Nobleboro in 1973, where he was very active in town politics and the volunteer fire department. He and his wife relocated to the Lathrop Communities, East Hampton, Mass. in 2006 to be closer to two of their children.
Dr. Branch is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janette (Stephenson) Branch; son, Geoff and wife Kate Spencer, daughter, Carol Conz and husband Bill, and son, Tom and partner Lisa Ford; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Twig loved his Irish Setters, especially Molly, the great outdoors, and the great State of Maine. He was never happier than when on his front porch deep in the woods, overlooking beautiful Damariscotta Lake, reflecting on a day well spent puttering in the woods.
Service and burial will be private.
Twig’s family invites you to join them at a reception 1-3 p.m., Thurs., Sept. 27 at the Inn at Lathrop Communities, Bassett Brook Dr., Easthampton, Mass.
