Flora Leona Giles Jones, of Boothbay, died April 18 with her son and daughter at her side. Flora was born at home in Boothbay during a snowstorm on May 11, 1925, to Samuel Fremont and Esther (Gray) Giles. She graduated from Boothbay High School in 1942 and Gorham State Teacher’s College, Gorham, in 1945. She taught at the Jackson Grammar School and Josiah Bartlett Elementary School over her 42-year career. She was predeceased by her husband, David Lloyd Jones of Bartlett, N.H.; sister, Susan (Giles) Pendleton; brother, Marshall Giles; grandson, Brett Chandler Beyerle; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Chandler. Flora is survived by son, Gene G. Chandler of Bartlett, N.H.; daughter, Mikell (Chandler) Perry and husband Frank Perry of Fryeburg; four grandchildren, Erik G. Chandler and wife Lori of Bartlett, N.H., Justin C. Chandler and wife Corie of Telluride, Col., Jesica (Beyerle) Garrou and husband Henry of San Francisco, Cal., and Christopher Perry of Fryeburg; and two great-grandchildren, Ella Rose and Morgan Brooke Chandler. Funeral service 2 p.m., Sat., April 22, at the Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home, Rte. 27, Boothbay. Memorial service will be held in Bartlett, N.H. at a later date.
