Florence E. Harrold, 100, of Boothbay Harbor, died Jan. 25 at her home. She was born Jan. 2, 1909 in Boothbay, a daughter of Arthur and Grace E. Corey Dodge. She attended local schools. She was a waitress at The Blue Ship and The Fullerton in Boothbay Harbor. She married Albert E. Harrold on Jan. 26, 1929. They were married 64 years until Albert died in 1990.
She was a bookkeeper for her husband’s business, Harrold’s Electric Shop for 40 years. She worked over 17,000 hours at the St. Andrews Hospital Thrift Shop and was acknowledged by then Governor Angus King. She was a member of the St. Andrews Hospital Auxiliary, Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor, Guild (Women’s Fellowship), Mt. Pisgah O.E.S. for over 50 years, and Senior Citizens. She made over 50 lap robes for St. Andrews Village.
She was predeceased by her husband; sisters, Frances Harper, Alice Ouellette, and Pauline Robinson; brothers, Arthur Dodge, and Erwin Dodge; and grandson, Thomas Brown.
She is survived by her daughters, Eleanor Brown of Niantic, Conn., and Mary Lee McDonough of Henderson, Nev.; sisters, Mabel Gamage of Boothbay, and Gracie Calhoun of Boothbay; grandchildren, Robert Green of Edgecomb, William Green of Georgia, and Janet Taylor of Meridan, Conn.; great-grandchildren, Robert Green III, Sway Marie Clark, and Jasmine Clark; and great-great-granddaughters, Lillian Clark, Tessa Clark, and Katherine Brown.
Graveside service will be held in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery in Boothbay to be announced.
