Frances Cook Lee, 84, of Loudon, N.H. and formerly of Waldoboro, died July 14 at Concord Hospital in Concord, N.H. Frances had lived the last 18 years in Loudon, N.H. with her daughters, Pauline and Geraldine.
She was born Feb. 21, 1925 in Friendship, a daughter of Orris and Georgia Beaureguard Cook. She grew up in Friendship and attended local schools. She worked for G.T.E. Sylvania in Waldoboro for 27 years. She married Clarence Lee in 1942.
She loved to knit, make afghans, play beano and gambling at Foxwoods. She was also an avid reader. She was a supporter of Pineland for many years through donations and gifts.
She was a very active member of the Waldoboro United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Woman’s Club. She was also a member of the Mayflower Temple – Epythian Sisters, Nomads of Abrudaka, and the State Past Chiefs Association.
She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence J. Lee in 1989.
She is survived by a son, Randall C. Lee and companion MaryLee Melvin of Waldoboro; daughters, Pauline Lee of Concord, N.H., Nancy Merrifield and husband Elden of St. Albans, and Geraldine Gowlis of Loudon, N.H.; brothers-in-law, Frank Lee and wife Sylvia of Waldoboro, and Bob Lee and wife Carol of Florida; sister-in-law, Frances Clark of South Carolina; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial service 1 p.m., Sat., July 18 at the Waldoboro United Methodist Church in Waldoboro. Burial will be in the Sweetland Cemetery in Waldoboro.
