Frances M. Randolph, 99, passed away on Sept. 20 at Cove’s Edge Skilled Nursing Unit in Damariscotta.
Fran was the daughter of Andrew and Marcella Smail Melville. She was born Aug. 1, 1908 in Cardinal, Ontario, Canada where she attended local schools. She graduated from the Philadelphia Osteopathic Hospital School of Nursing.
In the 1940’s and 1950’s, together with her husband, Dr. A. Franklin Randolph, she ran a maternity home in Waldoboro where over 500 babies were delivered. For over 20 years she was employed at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta before retiring.
She was a member and past president of the Waldoboro Woman’s Club, attended the Waldoboro United Methodist Church and the Waldoboro Senior Citizens.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and liked to travel.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. A. Franklin Randolph.
Survivors include her daughters, Constance Brown and husband Richard of Chicopee, Mass., and Margaret Hodgkins of Augusta; grandchildren, Catherine Bergeron and husband Steve of S. Hadley, Mass., Susan Polcari and husband Robert of Winchendon, Mass., Steven Brown and wife Nancy of Ashland, Mass., Craig Hodgkins and wife Lisa of Merritt Island, Fla., Sandra Robinson and husband Tom of Scarborough, and Margo West and husband Keith of Durham; 13 great-grandchildren; and longtime friend, Maxine Wright of Portland.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m., Sun., Sept. 23 at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro.
Celebration of Fran’s life 11 a.m., Mon., Sept. 24 at the United Methodist Church of Waldoboro with Rev. Bev Blaisdell officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church vestry.
Burial will be in the German Protestant Cemetery in Waldoboro.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Fran’s memory to Cove’s Edge Skilled Unit, Miles Development Office, 79 Schooner Dr., Damariscotta, ME 04543.
