Francis A. Collins Sr., 82, of Warren, left quietly surrounded by family on Jan. 8 at Pen Bay Medical Center.
Francis was born in Windsor on Aug. 18, 1930 to Edith (Erving) and Albert Collins. Francis had many jobs, mostly self-employed. He married Aug. 15, 1949 to Clyde M. Hood of Chelsea. They were married 23 years and had 12 children together before he was widowed by a fatal car accident in 1972. Shortly after that he married Joyce Hartford of Portland.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Clyde Collins; son, Burton J. Collins; and infant son, Shone K. Collins.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Joyce L. Collins and her four children; his children: daughters, Arlene Condon, Linda Leigh and husband Alfred, Wanda Mansir and husband Paul, Nancy Esancy and husband Kevin, Terry Pease and husband Jeffery, Lisa Colby and husband Scott, and Joyce Lewis and husband Royce; sons, Francis Collins Jr. and wife Amber, Bruce Collins, Timothy Collins and wife Joyce, and Eddie Collins and wife Lisa; numerous grandchildren aging from 10-46; a myriad great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and close cousin and special friend, Carlton Gray and wife Sarah.
A private graveside service will be held in the spring.
