Francis F. “Bucky” Buck, 79, of Portland, died July 7 at Mercy Hospital in Portland. He was born April 16, 1927 in Portland, a son of Jacob and Elsie (Berg) Buck. He attended schools in Portland and was a lifelong resident.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Buck was a self-employed painter in the Portland area for 40 years and had served many Portland families with both exterior and interior painting on their homes.
In his spare time, he enjoyed watching television and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ethel “Teddy” (Orff) Buck of Portland; six children, Gail Buck of Anchorage, Alas., Gary and wife Brenda Buck of Windham, Randy and wife Anita Buck of Portland, Mark and wife Shirley Buck of Jefferson, Kevin and wife Tammy Buck of New Gloucester, and Jody and husband John Smith of Poland; two brothers, Norman Buck of Westbrook and Raymond Buck of Portland; two sisters, Carol Buck and Mitzi Goddard, both of Portland; eleven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
Graveside service 11 a.m., Wed., July 12 in Brooklawn Memorial Park, 2002 Congress St., Portland, with Reverend Philip Shearman officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Kidney Foundation of Maine, 630 Congress St., Portland, ME 04101, in Bucky’s memory.
