Frank Ellsworth Overlock, Sr., 79, of Waldoboro, died peacefully at home after a lengthy illness on Oct. 31.
He was born in Warren on Dec. 20, 1929, the son of Charles Overlock and Doris Teague Overlock. He grew up in Warren and graduated from Warren High School, Class of 1948.
Shortly after graduation, he entered the Army, and served his country from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War. When he arrived back home, he went to work for GTE Sylvania in Waldoboro, as a machinist, and retired in 1988 after 30 years.
He was a member of the Kora Temple Shrine, he was Shriner of the Year, member of the Midcoast Shrine Club, Past Master of the St. George Lodge in Warren, Honorary member of the King Solomons #61 Lodge in Waldoboro, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, Honorary Past Master of Orient Lodge #15 in Thomaston, and Past District Deputy Grand Master 9th Masonic District Grand Lodge of Maine.
Frank loved to camp, travel and square dance. He enjoyed many a meal, and was seen often at Moody’s Diner.
Frank was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Ronald, Russell and Richard Overlock; and by his brothers-in-law, Kendall Orff and Robert Mattson.
He is survived by wife, Marion (Hilt) Overlock of Waldoboro; son, Frank Overlock, Jr. and wife Karen of Waldoboro; daughter, Sonja of Milbridge; and step-daughter, Charlotte Herrick of Portland; sisters, Jeanette Orff of Rockland, Carolyn Overlock of Warren, and Bernys Mattson of New Gloucester; brothers, Albert Overlock and wife Janice of Warren, Charles Overlock and wife Thelma of Warren; grandchildren, Katie Overlock, of Mass., Matthew Overlock and wife Heidi of Waldoboro; and step-grandchildren Victoria Machado of Lewiston, and Angela Herrick of Portland; great-grandchildren, Kyle Melanson, of Waldoboro and Quinn Overlock of Waldoboro; and step-great-grandchildren, Mei Machado of Lewiston, and Anja Machado of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m., Wed., Nov. 4, with a Masonic service 7-7:30 p.m., at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro.
Celebration of Frank’s life 1 p.m., Thurs., Nov. 5 at the funeral home. Interment to follow at the German Cemetery, Rt. 32, Waldoboro. Rev. Robin Honaker will officiate.
