Frankie T. Greenleaf Jr., of Westport Island, died on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019 at Mid Coast Hospital, Brunswick.
He was born on March 25, 1945 in Sanford, the son of Frankie T. Greenleaf Sr., and Beatrice Colby Greenleaf. Frank graduated Morse High, Bath, 1963. He later graduated from Andover College with a degree in Computer Science in 1980.
Frank proudly served in the 1st Cav and 82nd Airborne Division of the Army 1965-69. He was a decorated combat veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was a skilled carpenter/builder, particularly for residential and commercial projects like the Boothbay Railway Museum, Tugboat Inn, Wiscasset Ford, Newcastle Dodge, Caribou Ford and projects that would frighten OSHA like putting on a clock tower at Wiscasset Legion Hall while sitting on 12” x 20” board suspended from a crane by ropes – no safety harness.
Frank enjoyed family times, pets, travel, music, playing guitar in a bluegrass band, Army reunions but most of all time with his most favorite grandson, Noah.
Frank was a member and Deacon at Brunswick Seventh Day Adventist Church, a founding member of the 12th Cav Reunions in Branson, Mo., member of the Patriot Guard and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Frank married Karen Cunningham in Wiscasset on June 29, 1968.
He is survived by his wife of Westport Island; son, Tyler of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; daughter, Gretchen, resident of Klearview Manor Nursing Facility in Fairfield; daughter-in-law, Ann and grandson Noah of Westport Island; sister, Asenath Morton of Dewey, Ariz., as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends. Frank was predeceased by his parents and younger sister Cheryl Greenleaf.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 3 p.m. at the Brunswick Seventh Day Adventist Church, Upper Maine Street, Brunswick.
Arrangements are under the care of Kincer Funeral Home, 130 Pleasant St., Richmond.
