Frederick J. Medicke, 61, of Warren, passed away July 2 at the Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport, after a period of failing health.
Frederick was born Feb. 8, 1949 in Springfield, Mass., the son of Frederick K. and Ada “Oddie” Lamborghini Medicke, and is a graduate of Commerce High School in Springfield, where he participated in athletics. He furthered his education at Holyoke Community College, transferred to Husson College, and graduated with a degree in business in 1970.
He soon returned to Massachusetts, where he began work in the hospitality industry, including a time when he was a partner in a motel. He then worked for Hannaford in Massachusetts and Maine. For the past 14 years, he had been a route salesman for Frito-Lay in the mid-coast area, retiring in 2009.
A sports fanatic, he always looked for opportunities to play, including several organized leagues, and watching them whenever possible, especially his beloved Red Sox. He enjoyed being out of doors, feeding his birds and working in his yard. A people person he really enjoyed the company of his family and friends.
Frederick also enjoyed attending Grace Bible Fellowship in Rockland.
He is predeceased by his father and father-in-law, Ivan Scott Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Medicke of Warren; son, Edward F. Medicke of Warren; step-daughters, Debbie Gould and husband Gary of South Thomaston and Dawn Heal of Waldoboro; two step-grandchildren; mother, Oddie Medicke of Hamilton, Mass.; sister, Carol Bullivant and husband Bob of Hamilton, Mass.; brother, Richard Medicke and his wife Sarah of Temecula, Cal.; nephews, David Bullivant of Arlington, Mass. and Paul Scott, of Nobleboro; nieces, Susan Bullivant of Durham, N.H., Michelle Medicke, Stephanie Medicke, both of Temecula, Cal., and Shawna Scott of Waldoboro; mother-in-law, Gloria Scott of Waldoboro; and brothers-in-law, Warren Scott and Brian Scott and wife Johnna, all of Waldoboro.
A service may be held at a later date.
