Frederick W. Klein, 70, of Bristol, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on the morning of Feb. 24. Fred died after a courageous battle with cancer.
Although he was born in Huntington, N.Y. on Oct. 12, 1942, he moved with his family to Maine in 1973 and had ever since considered the Maine coast to be his true home. With a gift for construction, woodworking, and problem solving, Fred built many homes with impeccable precision and quality. In 1982 he became a maintenance supervisor at Maine Yankee Atomic Power plant, receiving the Maine Yankee Employee of the Year Award in 1988, and consistently earned the respect and friendship of his colleagues.
He was known as a devoted husband, a loving dad and grandfather, an ex-marine, a skilled craftsman, good neighbor, and a faithful friend.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara; daughter, Nancy; son, Dennis; and four grandchildren.
No formal services will take place; however, to honor Fred and his memory, a celebration of life is planned to take place in the summer.
Fred was a person of principle and saw true value in helping others.
For those who wish to honor Fred in the form of a donation, we invite you to make a donation to a charity that is meaningful to you or Kno-Wal-Lin Hospice at 170 Pleasant St., Rockland, ME 04841.
