Frederick Wayne Carroll Jr., 51, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, in Lewiston on Oct. 16 from complications of diabetes.
Fred was born in Rockland on Oct. 27, 1959 to Frederick W. Carroll Sr. and Sandra (Seekins) Carroll. Fred was raised in Washington and graduated from Medomak Valley High School in 1978. He moved to Portland shortly after graduation and lived and worked there until he moved to the Lewiston area in 2009.
Fred held several jobs while living in Portland including Maine Medical Center, Baron Center, Eastland Hotel, F Parker Reidy’s and Village Cafe Restaurants.
He enjoyed watching the Patriots, stock car racing and playing board games with friends and family. He could count a cribbage hand faster than any opponent while making sure they received all their points.
Fred was known for his sense of humor and infectious laugh. He loved to spend time with his family, especially during the holidays. As a boy, Fred loved to deliver his Grit Paper on Saturday mornings, which gave him the opportunity to visit with his friends and neighbors in Washington and Waldoboro. Fred carried this independent, social style throughout his entire life.
Fred was predeceased by his grandmother, Lorraine Seekins; and an uncle, Philip Seekins.
Fred is survived by his parents, Fred and Sandra Carroll of Washington; sister, Lynn Carroll and her partner Jane Carroll of Washington; brother, Blaine of Thomaston; four sons, Adrian and Fred of Bath, Chris of Lewiston and Jon of Gorham; as well as a large extended family.
Visiting hours 10 to 11 a.m., Fri., Oct. 21, followed by a Celebration of Fred’s life at 11 a.m., Hall’s Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. Burial will be held following the service at Davis Cemetery on Rt. 220 in Washington. Reception after the service at Lynn and Jane Carroll’s home.
