Freeman B. Peaslee, 71, of Boothbay, died Jan. 24 at Mid Coast Hospital, after a brief illness.
He was born Jan. 20, 1938, in Somerville, the son of Guy F. and Leola E. Benner Peaslee.
He married Mary Barter Peaslee 20 years ago in Boothbay.
He lived for hunting, fishing and traveling, especially with his best friends Pat and Ron Benoit from Spencer, Mass. Freeman was a man of few words, but of honesty and trust.
Freeman started F.B.P. Construction Business in 1966 which was a very successful business, and which he enjoyed operating. He ran his business from his home in Boothbay.
In his spare time he enjoyed being at home with his wife Mary, feeding and watching the birds in their front yard.
He is predeceased by his son, Stephen Barter; daughter, Suzie Haskell; brothers, Aubrey, Harold and Forest Peaslee; and sister, Francis Conley.
Survivors include his wife and best friend of 50 years, Mary Peaslee of Boothbay; son, Freeman Peaslee Jr. of Lincoln; brothers, Robert Peaslee of Readfield, Douglas Peaslee of Jefferson, Fred Peaslee of Wiscasset, Guy Peaslee of Boothbay, and Lawrence of Edgecomb; sisters, Evelyn Colby of Augusta, Myra Cook of Tallahassee, Fla., and Marion Wright of Wiscasset; and five grandsons and one granddaughter.
Freeman requested that there be no service and the family is respecting his wish.
