Gail Anne Mahan, 70, of Waldoboro, died suddenly March 29 at her home. Gail was born on Dec. 14, 1943 in Brockton, Mass., a daughter of Delpho and Winifred Bonamici.
Gail attended and graduated from Brockton High School in Brockton, Mass. After high school she married her husband James A. Mahan III. They were happily married for 44 years. Gail and James moved to Waldoboro where they have resided since 1985.
Gail spent her whole work career in the real estate industry. She worked for a few different companies in mid-coast Maine. First she worked for McLoon Real Estate owned by Marilyn McLoon in Damariscotta. After becoming well-seasoned in the real estate business, she owned and operated Mahan Properties with her late husband James III for over 20 years. More recently she worked as a broker for Jaret & Cohn Real Estate.
In her spare time Gail was active in the local community and was a member of many local organizations including the Waldoboro Business Association, the Medomak Valley Land Trust, Waldoboro Woman’s Club and the Waldoboro Garden Club.
Survivors include her son, James A. Mahan IV and wife Mary of Hamilton, N.Y.; grandchildren, Stephanie Mahan, and James A. Mahan V, both of Hamilton, N.Y.; sister, Lois Alfonso and husband Richard of South Easton, Mass., and New Harbor; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are welcome to join the family for a time of visitation from 6-8 p.m., Tues., April 2 at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. A prayer service will be held at 7:45 p.m. with Father Fred Morse.
