Gary Russell York, 30, of Raleigh, N.C., died unexpectedly on May 7 at Wake Med Hospital. He is the son of Debra and Alick Thibault of Waldoboro. He grew up in Waldoboro and graduated from Medomak Valley High School in 1999 with his sister and best friend, Sharon Reinheimer.
Gary liked to be around people and worked at several local restaurants as a server and bartender, before relocating to Raleigh, N.C. in 2004 to start a new adventure. During his time in Raleigh, Gary obtained his real estate license from a local community college and was currently working as a bartender at Mellow Mushroom. Gary was planning on advancing his real estate career in the near future.
Gary will be remembered for all his help and the time he has given over the years to his mother’s restaurant, Deb’s Diner, and his yearly trips to Maine to work at the Union Fair. His lively spirit and love of life was contagious to those around him.
Gary is predeceased by his grandmother, Flossie York of Waldoboro; and uncle, Timothy York of Waldoboro.
He is survived by his grandparents, Sonny York of Warren, George and Barbara McClintick of Waldoboro, and Lorraine McClintick of Quarry Hill, Camden; father, Rusty York of Rockland; brothers, Jason Thibault and girlfriend Sarah Taylor of Waldoboro and Steven York of Waldoboro; sisters, Sharon Reinheimer and husband Erich of Queen Creek, Ariz. and Melanie Hilton and boyfriend Henry Groth; nephew, Jax Reinheimer of Queen Creek, Ariz.; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and beloved dog, Crow Bo.
A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at a future date; friends and family will be notified.
