Gary Wayne Reed died Monday, May 18 at Maine Medical Center. Born in Rockland, Aug. 15, 1951, he was the son of Gerald Reed, Sr. and Grace Monroe Reed. He lived in Waldoboro, Maine for the majority of his live and graduated from Medomak Valley High School in 1969. He enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 21 and did a tour of duty in Korea. After returning from the military, he went on to work for Fisher Engineering in Rockland, for over twenty years. Gary made his home on “The Union Road” where he enjoyed his dogs and making wooden sculptures.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Wendell. He is survived by his brothers; Larry Reed of El Paso, Tex., and Gerald Reed
Jr. and Steven Reed, both of Waldoboro; nephews Larry Reed Jr. of Rockland, and Clinton Reed of Waldoboro; and niece, Paula Ryder of Clinton, Mass.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Sat., May 23, at the Shuman Cemetary in Waldboro, ME. The Reverend Thomas Rawley will officiate. There will be a military contingent from the Togus Veterans in attendance. A reception will follow.
