Gauge Michael Barnes, 14, of Wiscasset, died Oct. 29 at his residence.
He was born in Augusta on Nov. 18, 1994, the son of Shawn and Lanee (Felscher) Barnes. He attended Wales and Wiscasset schools and was a freshman at Wiscasset High School.
Gauge enjoyed playing basketball, dirt biking, playing Halo 3, swimming at the Wiscasset Docks, wrestling, playing airsoft with brother Ridge, watching movies with mom, and hunting and fishing with dad. The previous Saturday (Oct. 24) which was youth day, he shot an eight point buck.
He is survived by his parents, Shawn and Lanee Barnes of Wiscasset; brother, Ridge William Barnes of Wiscasset; paternal grandfather, William “Bill” Barnes of Wiscasset; paternal grandmother, Gloria Barnes of Dresden; maternal grandmother, Larraine VanVeen and husband Francis of Duncan, S.C.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Celebration of Gauge’s life 3 p.m., Sat., Nov. 7 at the Wiscasset Community Center on Gardiner Rd. (Rt. 27) in Wiscasset. Procession of family and friends will follow to the cemetery at the family farm in Wiscasset. Gathering for everyone will follow at the Wiscasset Community Center.
