Gene Ames was born in Marysville, Cal. on Aug. 24, 1941 and passed away after a long and courageous battle with Muscular Dystrophy on June 24.
Gene was an avid outdoorsman and for 41 years worked in the beverage and beer distribution and wholesale business including managing a Coke distribution business in Susanville, Cal. Gene was named Man of the Year in 2000 by the Maine Muscular Dystrophy Assoc. for his continuing inspiration to others.
Gene is survived by his wife Peggy, his “Special Angel” of 36 years; children, Tamré Davidson, Kim (Rick) Rikalo, Rick and Kent Ames, Bob (Julie) Ames, Terri (Robbie) Robinson, Jason Ames, Kevin (Michele) Ames and Darcy (Keith) Forrester; 26 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sister, Joanne Kay; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended families.
Memorial services held June 30 at the Camino Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Camino, Cal. Private cremation has been held.
