Geneva Augustus Seigars, 86, of Alna, passed away April 4 at the MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta.
She was born Feb. 15, 1921 in Bath, the daughter of Jennie M. Wallace and Charles H. Koehling.
When Geneva was 17, she married 35-year old Albert C. Seigars. They were united as one on Dec. 10, 1938 and were married for 35 years, until his passing on March 14, 1973.
Geneva worked at a shoe facility in Brunswick, Lipmans Poultry in Augusta, and Ledges Inn in Wiscasset, retiring in 1983.
Geneva was predeceased by her parents; husband; sons, Carl and Fredrick; a grandchild, Juliann Seigars; and daughter-in-law, Janet Seigars in 2006.
She is survived by her son Albert and wife Goldie Seigars of Bath; daughter, Fostina Gibson and husband William of Damariscotta; sons, Samuel and wife Christine of Illinois, Stanley of Damariscotta, David and wife Cindy Seigars of Alna, and Rodney Seigars of Lewiston; former daughter-in-law, Loretta Seigars of Wiscasset, daughter-in-law, Louise Seigars widowed by Fredrick Seigars, Sr.; sister, Dot Lapierre of Yarmouth; grandchildren, Fredrick (Duke) Seigars, James Seigars, Karla Seigars, Frank Seigars, Judy Dillard, Tina Seigars, Tammy Seigars and Leann Kingsbury; one adopted grandchild; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Geneva’s relatives and friends may visit 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Tues., April 10 at Staples Funeral Home 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner.
Funeral service 1 p.m., Wed., April 11 at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, Rt. 1, Damariscotta, followed by a celebration of her life.
Burial will be later in the spring at Alna Cemetery, Rt. 218, Alna.
