George was a lifelong, highly skilled and experienced automotive mechanic in New York and Maine. He spoke fondly of the friends he made while working at Wiscasset Ford. He was also skilled at outboard motor and marine engine repairs and service, which he rendered much of the time at Coveside Marina in Christmas Cove. He made many friends there, including, Mike Mitchell and his family. He would often talk of his exploits there and the many celebrities he “happened to meet,” such as Walter Cronkite.
