George Edwin Wellman, 72, of Waldoboro, died April 8. He was born Oct. 8, 1940 in Waldoboro to Lester J. Wellman Sr. and Helen B. Creamer Wellman.
He worked at Mack-Clark Bottling Company in Waldoboro and later for Nick DePatsy at DePatsy’s Bowling Lanes as a maintenance worker for many years. He also worked for many people in the community. He enjoyed hanging on the corner in downtown Waldoboro and seeing people.
He had a love of music, and dancing, especially with the ladies. He also enjoyed gardening and old movies.
He was predeceased by brothers, Roy, Lester Jr., and William; sisters, Alice Wellman and Bertha Simmons; and brother-in-law, Melvin Simmons.
He is survived by sisters, Hazel Turner and husband Ralph of Hollis, and Murtel Simmons of Cushing; nieces, Deborah Turner of Saco, Virginia Joy and husband Ted of Westbrook, and Tammy Harrington and husband Pat of Augusta; nephews, Mitchell Wellman of Nobleboro, Steven Simmons of Jefferson, Roger Simmons of Warren, and Albert and Richard Simmons of Friendship; and friends, Amie Lee, Bridgett Miller, Lyndsey Miller, Jacob White, Kevin White and friends at The Narrows, Jeff, Jess, Jen and Crystal.
Visiting hours 4-6 p.m., Sun., April 14 at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. Service to celebrate George’s life 1 p.m., Mon., April 15 at the Hall Funeral Home in Waldoboro. Rev. Wayne Sawyer will officiate. Burial will follow in the Shuman Cemetery in Waldoboro.
