George F. Campbell, 91, passed away Dec. 23 at Fieldcrest Manor, Waldoboro.
He was born in Appleton, Feb. 24, 1916, a son of Wilber D. and Ada Richards Campbell.
He operated a poultry farm in Hope for many years and was an avid gardener, growing strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and vegetables.
George built and renovated houses in the neighborhood, worked for the Alford Lake Jersey Farm, Earl R. Norwood, Sr., and was a caretaker for several families.
He was predeceased by his wife, Justine, in 2002; brother, Harry Campbell; and brother-in-law, Alfred Willey.
Survivors include children, Walter E. Campbell and wife Barbara of Hope, Russell E. Campbell and wife Jane of Thomaston, Morgan L. Campbell and wife Sandra of Hope, and Joan M. Severson and husband Douglas of Hope; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two step great-grandchildren; sister, Marian Willey of Warren; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service 11 a.m., Mon., Dec. 31 at Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 949 Main St., Waldoboro with the Rev. Robert Dorr officiating.
A spring burial will be held at the Grove Cemetery, Hope.
