George Ganson, Sr., 63, of Chamberlain, beloved husband, father, son and brother, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Feb. 6.
The son of the late Victor Ganson and Mirjana (Golubev) Ganson, he was born in Stuttgart, Germany.
Mr. Ganson served honorably as an Air Force Medic during the Vietnam War and, following his discharge, returned to Massachusetts.
He married Janet Korb and relocated with his family to Maine. He established Janko Ganson Roofing Company, continuing his work until his death.
He was a former member of the Bristol Lions Club and had a lifelong passion for boating and music. He also found comfort in working with his gardens.
He leaves his loving wife, Janet and son, George, Jr., both of Chamberlain; mother, Mirjana, brother, Alexander and sister, Dr. Natalia Ganson, all of Boston, Mass.
Service noon, Mon., Feb. 11 at St. Alexander Nevsky Church, 15 Church St., Richmond. He will be laid to rest at the New Harbor Cemetery, New Harbor, in the spring.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Strong Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 612 Main St, Damariscotta.
