George Henry Robbins Sr., 75, of Warren, died Oct. 9 at Togus Hospice in Augusta. He was born to Weldon F. Robbins Sr. and Helen McPhee in Brockton, Mass.
George attended schools in Waldoboro. He joined the U.S. Army in 1956 and served in New Mexico at the White Sands Proving Grounds and spent some years in the Army Reserve. He worked many jobs, the last being at the Brunswick Naval Air Station.
He was a member of the Waterville American Legion, The Bog Brigade Snowmobile Club and an ATV club. George enjoyed traveling, camping and boating with his wife and friends. He also enjoyed gardening and landscaping.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Weldon Robbins Jr., Ralph Robbins Sr., Roy and William Robbins Sr.; son, Gregory Robbins; and daughter, Donna.
He is survived by wife, Mary Roster Robbins of Warren; son, George Robbins Jr., wife Mae-Beth and family of Stoughton, Mass.; daughters, Catherine, husband Donald Reed and family of Bowdoin, and Susan Ferguson and family of Warren; stepsons, Joseph Roster, wife Emie and family of Witchita Falls, Tex., and William Roster of New Hampshire; stepdaughters, Elizabeth Young, husband John and family of Canton, Mass., and Mary Washburn, husband Charles and family of Foxboro, Mass.; mother of his children, Florence Robbins of Bowdoin; sister, Fran Field and family of Warren; brother, Daniel McPhee, wife Rebecca and family of Washington; large extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to visit with the family from 6-9 p.m., Tues., Oct. 15 with a celebration of George’s life at 10 a.m., Wed., Oct. 16 at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. Rev. Robin Honaker will officiate. Burial will follow at the Post Sunny View Cemetery in Warren.
