Georgia B. Vrooman, 73, of Nobleboro, passed away on Dec. 8 at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta. Born on Nov. 24, 1936 in Washington, she was the daughter of Hazelton and Evelyn (Wellman) Simmons.
Georgia was a very social and independent woman who loved going out, and being with family and friends. She collected many different items and enjoyed doing crafts of all kinds. She loved sports and especially enjoyed watching her beloved Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Vrooman in 1999, as well as her daughter, Annette Dahl in 2003.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol Cowan and husband Bob Jones of Queen Creek, Ariz.; son, Greg Vrooman and fiancée Angela Harrison of Nobleboro; sister, Annette Rogers and husband Fran Rogers of Nobleboro; six grandchildren; and she was so excited to be expecting her first great-grandchild next month.
Time of visitation 4-6 p.m., Mon., Dec. 14 at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta. Service 12 p.m., Tues., Dec. 15 also at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest with her husband at the Dunbar Cemetery in Nobleboro.
