Geraldine M. Brown, 84, of Westport Island, died peacefully in her sleep on April 8 at her residence. She was born in Arkansas City, Kan., on June 12, 1921, a daughter of Freddie Ray and Jennette (Pinion) Alford. She graduated from Arkansas City High School and Junior College and attended the Oklahoma A&M College, studying accounting and interior decorating for two years. She was a private pilot and was later trained as a ferry pilot by the U.S. Air Force during WWII where she met her husband David M. Brown and married on Jan. 2, 1935. In 1963 she was employed by Hallmark cards, retired as supervisor of data processing in 1984 and then moved to Westport Island. She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, playing bridge, tennis and swimming. She was predeceased by her husband David M. Brown on Jan. 7, 2004. She is survived by her son, Jon Brown and wife Ellen of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; grandchildren, Amy Nelson and husband Ron of Boston Lake, N.Y., and David A. Brown and wife Liz of Scotia, N.Y.; and great-grandchildren, Nick Nelson and Megan Nelson. Burial will be held at Saratoga National Cemetery at a later date.
