Geraldine “Gerry” Maude Hersom, 74, of Wiscasset, passed away May 15 at her residence with her family by her side.
Born in Edgecomb on June 2, 1932, she was a daughter of Herbert G. and Beulah (Reed) Lamson.
She attended Wiscasset schools and graduated from Wiscasset Academy, class of 1951.
On Sept. 22, 1951, she married Allen L. Hersom.
She enjoyed spending summers with her family and friends at Camp Lakehurst and Pemaquid Lake. She made friends easily and loved to dance. She was an avid Red Sox fan with Carlton Fisk being her all time favorite player. She was also a fan of the Wiscasset Redskins and attended many of their sporting events.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Wiscasset and a member of the Wiscasset Alumni Association.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Allen L. Hersom, of Wiscasset; son, Allen L. Hersom and wife Sherrie of Edgecomb; daughters, Susan Lombardo and husband David of Hollis, Paula J. Hersom and longtime companion Wendell Delano of Wiscasset, Julie A. Madden and husband Bob of Washington; sister, Peggy Lamson Allen and husband Stephen of Woolwich; aunt, Frances Bennett of Edgecomb; grandchildren, Ian L. Hersom, Joseph A. Hersom, Nicholas R. Lombardo, Luciana A. Lombardo, Brady J. Lombardo, Kerry C. Madden, and Patrick H. Madden; several cousins; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours 4-7 p.m., Fri., May 18 at Mayo & Daigle Funeral Home, 40 Federal St., Wiscasset.
Funeral service 2 p.m., Sat., May 19 at the First Congregational Church in Wiscasset with Rev. John Potter officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wiscasset.
