Geraldine Tarr, 98, passed away peacefully June 10 in her home on Pemaquid Point, a few weeks after planting her spring lettuce. Born on March 31, 1921, Geraldine graduated from Bristol High School, then left New Harbor to work as a welder in a Portland shipyard during WWII.
Geraldine was strong, active, funny, and opinionated without hesitation. She snowmobiled, hammered and sawed, made blueberry muffins, swam in Biscay Pond, cheered for the Red Sox and Tar Heels, hung out laundry almost daily, and played golf with a competitive spirit every chance she could.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Elmer, loving daughter Pauline, a brother Carl and sister Marilyn; Geraldine is survived by a devoted daughter, Susanne (husband Dennis); several nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Jason, Amanda, Scott (wife Anh) and Stephen (wife Lana); and great-grandchildren, Andrew, Samantha, Scott, Catherine, and Graham.
The family will remember and celebrate Geraldine’s life in a private service.
Memorial donations in her name may be made to Bristol First Responders, 104 South Side Road, New Harbor, ME 04554.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta. Condolences, and messages for her family, may be expressed by visiting: StrongHancock.com.
