Geraldine Dawn Wotton, 74, of New Harbor, died June 21 at Miles Memorial Hospital. Born in Bangor on April 28, 1934 to James W. and Lora (Clark) Pendleton, she attended schools in Veazie and Frankfort, as well as Meriden and New Britain, Conn.
Geraldine was a member of the Eastern Star, American Legion, Methodist Church and Pocahontas. She served as a Girl Scout leader, Sunday school teacher and Superintendent. She also served as Secretary of the Lincoln County and Bristol Democratic Committees and was appointed for two terms as a member of Lincoln County Commissioners Budget Committee. She was one of the founders of BATMA (Bristol Area Teen Memorial Association), serving as Vice President. Geraldine had her own Christmas wreath business for many years and later in life started “Geri’s Jellies”. She was an herbalist, a certified hypnotherapist and C.N.A. While undergoing chemotherapy, she began studying Reiki. For 35 years, she was a columnist for The Lincoln County News, often sharing recipes and humorous stories. Geri was a wonderful cook and enjoyed sharing her baked goods. Over the years, she took in many young people, some staying for several years, some for the summer and many simply for a meal and a home to relax. Everyone was always welcome, as she loved people and loved to talk. She was a genuinely caring woman. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, cooking, recipe collecting, gardening, reading, traveling and her many pets.
Geri was predeceased by her husband Donald A. Wotton, Sr. in 2001.
She will be greatly missed by her family, including sons, James Saunders, wife Roxanne and their son Michael of Frankfort, Shawn Sanders and wife Vicki of Leechburg, Penn., Donald Wotton, Jr., wife Rebecca and sons Merritt, Mitchell and Myles of Bristol, Lora Wotton of New Harbor and her stepson Kyle McGheechan of Orland, and Heidi Jo Leeman, husband Eric and sons Dalton and Cole of New Harbor; brothers-in-law, Ramon and Clinton Wotton; sisters-in-law, Joan Wotton, Barbara Perkins, Marilyn Doe, and Laura Smith; mother-in-law, Dot Wotton and many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Celebration of Geri’s Life 1 p.m., Sat., June 28 at her home in New Harbor.
