Gloria Bagley, 77, of Waldoboro, died on July 4. Independence Day was a fitting day for liberation from a long-term illness. It was also fitting for a woman of strong spirit born on Flag Day, June 14, 1939.
Gloria Linnea Kenniston, daughter of Donald Kenniston and Evelyn Erickson Kenniston, was born in Union. She subsequently lived in Warren, where she attended Warren High School, and Lake Worth, Fla., where she attended Lake Worth Community High School. She worked for many years as a private caregiver, however her primary focus was always taking care of her family. Her five children, nine grandchildren, and those who still refer to her as their second mom, will remember her as woman of faith, old-fashioned integrity, and great wisdom. They turned to her for spiritual guidance and when they needed to be reminded of God’s love. They sought her advice on everything from home-making to child-rearing. They admired her drive to create beauty, her love of poetry, her knowledge of history, her relationship with nature, and her compassionate service to the needy. Gloria was an original, a wonderful mother, a loyal friend, and a role model who changed many lives for the better.
Gloria was predeceased by her parents; husband, Charles Bagley; siblings, Frederick Kenniston, June Kenniston, and David Kenniston; and granddaughter, Evy Pejouhy.
She is survived by sister, Kathleen Sharp of Mesa, Ariz.; daughters, Angela Pejouhy of Waldoboro, Melissa Jameson and husband Kevin of Warren, and Kelly Delano of Waldoboro; sons, Tony Delano and long-time girlfriend Jenny of Portland, and Nathanael Bagley and girlfriend Letha of Friendship; and grandchildren, Jonathan Pejouhy of Saco, Aubrie Powell of Union, Sophie Powell of Warren, Gabriel and Samual Delano of Waldoboro, Frederick Archer of Bath, Ocean and Winter Bagley of Bath, and Ryley Evalina-Leigh Bagley of Lisbon.
All are invited to attend a remembrance ceremony at 11 a.m., Sun., July 17 at Blake Cemetery in Warren (Rt. 235) and lunch at the home of Angela Pejouhy and Bruce Alexander at 67 Friendship St., in Waldoboro Village. For more information call 207-975-5007.
