Gloria J. (Carter) Markewich, 78, of Nashua, N.H., passed away at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, N.H. on Sept. 30.
She was born in Nobleboro on Aug. 5, 1929, a daughter of the late Doris (Vannah) and Hubert Carter. Mrs. Markewich attended school in Jefferson and Manchester, N.H. and graduated from Nashua High School. She had been a resident of Nashua, N.H. since 1947.
Mrs. Markewich was the wife of John B. Markewich.
While attending high school, Mrs. Markewich was employed at Nashua Brass. After graduation, she worked at Irving Products and for 10 years at Sprague Electric in various capacities. After raising her children, she went back to work for the former Rockwell International of Nashua, N.H. for two years.
In her younger years, she was a Rainbow Girl and helped institute the Rainbow Assembly in Milford, N.H.
She enjoyed traveling, especially in England, Africa, and Hawaii. She enjoyed visiting friends in Louisiana. She loved cats, nature, walking, and her home in Maine.
Mrs. Markewich was predeceased by a sister, Marjory Prince; niece, Linda Paris; and nephew, Steven Prince.
In addition to her husband, John of 58 years, survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Ronald Germano of Nashua, N.H.; grandchild, Jared Germano of Nashua, N.H.; sister, Diana Lindh and husband Frank of Manchester, N.H., brother-in-law, Robert Prince of Hudson, N.H.; nephew and niece, David Lindh of Manchester, N.H. and Paula Prince of Texas.
