Gordon “Bud” Blank, 93, of New Harbor, passed away on the morning of Jan. 20 in New Harbor. Born in Boston on Oct. 24, 1918, he was the son of George and Frieda (Tobey) Blank.
Bud grew up in Massachusetts and attended schools there before joining the U.S. Army. During his time in the Army, he served honorably in the Philippines during WWII. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to the States and went to work as a finish carpenter and contractor.
He and his wife Rita moved to Maine and made it their permanent home in the 1970’s to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Bud was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and was a huge supporter of Little League baseball. He was a member of the American Legion and looked forward to his daily outings to Reunion Station for lunch.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Rita (Hayes) Blank, who passed away in 1995; sister, Barbara Kristopherson; daughter, Phyllis Feltis, and son-in-law, Clayton Feltis.
He is survived by son, Gordon “Buddy” Blank and wife Lynne of New Harbor; grandsons, Tim Feltis and wife Danielle, Chris Feltis and wife Brenda, Dale Feltis and wife Sharlene, Shawn Feltis and wife April, Kevin Feltis and wife Mia, and Michael Feltis; granddaughters, Layne Kaler and husband Jimmy, and Dee Dee Blank; as well as 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
A private graveside service will be held at the Harrington Cemetery in the spring.
