Gordon Forrest Orff, 55, of Jefferson, passed away Oct. 11 at Maine Medical Center in Portland surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Augusta on Aug. 21, 1957, the son of Althea Orff. He grew up in Jefferson and attended local schools and was a graduate of Lincoln Academy class of 1977.
After high school he went on to work for the State of Maine in the bridge department. He worked on various bridges throughout the state doing maintenance and upkeep. After working for the state for a number of years he went on to work as a sternman for Mike Reilly aboard the F/V Michelle.
When he was not working, he could be found riding his motorcycle, or at a party with his family and friends. He was an animal lover and was always bringing home new pets for Alexandria. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.
He was not a fan of the cold weather so he would take many trips to Florida and dreamed of someday retiring there. He loved to travel taking trips with his family to Florida, New Jersey, New Hampshire or anywhere else his daughter wanted to go. His family was very important to him and he made sure to always be there for them with whatever they may need.
He was a straight shooter and told it like it was, a trait that the family will miss.
He is survived by his daughter, Alexandria Orff of Jefferson; sister, Tina Brilyea-Giles of East Boothbay; brother, Daniel Brilyea of Jefferson; grandchildren, Eliza and William “Bretley” McClintick; girlfriend, Khristy Carter of Warren; uncles, Roger Orff of Jefferson and Richard Dyer of Palermo; nephews, Richard Genthner of Waldoboro and Derek Brilyea of Jefferson; niece, Emily Eastman of Waldoboro; and great-niece, Maddie Genthner of Waldoboro.
