Greta A. “Pat” Thyng, 79, of Waldoboro, died April 26 at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta after a long illness.
Pat was born Feb. 25, 1930 in Cambridge, Mass., the daughter of Margaret Andrews. She graduated from the Northfield School for Girls and Boston University with a degree in physical therapy.
She was employed by the former Knox Hospital in Rockland, and moved to the new Pen Bay facility when it opened, in its physical therapy department. She later was one of the founders of Down East Rehab.
Pat loved tending to her home and many perennial gardens, and was know for her skill at many crafts, including weaving, quilting, spinning wool, and knitting.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years, William Thyng of Waldoboro; two sons, Dana Spofford of Moorpark, Cal. and Waldoboro, and Todd Spofford of Waldoboro; three stepdaughters, Kathy Thyng of Rockland, Connie Thyng of Rockland, and Deb Thyng Schmidt of Longmont, Col.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private service was held at Brookland Cemetery in Waldoboro.
