Grover A. Sprague, 84, of Wiscasset, died on Oct. 31 at Cove s Edge in Damariscotta.
He was born in Machias on May 11, 1923, a son of Fred A. and Annie (Murphy) Sprague. He graduated from East Machias Academy.
He served in the U.S. Air Force, and on May 29, 1942, married Thelma Berry.
Grover owned and operated his logging business called Grover Sprague & Sons and later sold insurance for North Western Mutual Life in Wiscasset for many years.
He was a member of the American Legion in Wiscasset.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also loved flying his plane and partridge hunting.
He was predeceased by brothers, Bruce, Blair, Rowland, Arnold, Charles and Quintin; and sisters, Lula Sprague and Carrie Sprague.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Sprague of Wiscasset; sons, Donald Sprague and wife Mona of Jefferson, Frank Sprague and wife Linda of Wiscasset, and Marvin Sprague of Wiscasset; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
