Grover Arthur Barter, 81, of Stoneham, Mass., formerly of Boothbay, died Nov. 25 at the Wentworth Hospital in Wentworth, Mass. after a period of failing health.
He was born in Boothbay, the son of Alexander and Esther Barter Barter, and attended Barters Island Schools.
Employed as a truck driver, he worked for Hartungs & Samples, the town of Boothbay, Stoneham Laundry and the DeCoster Sausage Plant in Woburn, Mass. retiring in 1992.
He enjoyed fishing, watching baseball and was a Red Sox Fan.
Survivors include sons, Jimmy Barter of Bradenden, Fla., and Grover Barter Jr. of Bradendon, Fla.; daughters Kathy Keyes of Pampa, Tex., and Gail Hodgdon of Boothbay; sisters, Thersa Gilson of Stoneham, Mass., and Lelia Barter of East Boothbay; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service 1 p.m., Wed., Dec. 2 at the Evergreen Cemetery, Boothbay.
