Gweneth Purdy Snyder, 94, of Newcastle, died Dec. 26, 2011 at her home.
She was born July 23, 1917 in Greenwich, Conn., a daughter of the late Arthur L. and Marjorie (Hoose) Purdy.
Mrs. Snyder was a graduate of Greenwich High School, member of the class of 1936. On Sept. 14, 1938 she married William M. Snyder. Over the years she worked for the American Red Cross and the Glidden Agency.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years.
Mrs. Snyder is survived by daughters, Sally McCumber of Newcastle, and Joanna Richardson of Australia; son, William M. Snyder Jr. and wife Nancy of Orrington; grandsons, Steven H. Cranton and wife Shirley of Hanover, Mass., and Daniel Snyder and wife Brie of Old Town; granddaughters, Gweneth P. Hunt of Hansen, Mass., Glori Berry and husband Todd of Hartland, and Karen Snyder of Newport.
There will be no services.

Arrangements are under the direction of Smeltzer Family Cremation and Funeral Service, Waldoboro.
