Harold U. Colby, formerly of Dresden and Gardiner, died on May 18.
He was the son of G. Vernon Colby and Inez (Harriman) Colby, husband of the late Virginia (Deland) Colby, brother of Doris (Colby) Harvey, father of Lynda (Colby) Conrad of Virginia, and George E. Colby of Massachusetts, and grandfather of Megan (Colby) Parker. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Donald Deland, daughter-in-law, Sandra Colby, dear family friend, Valerie (Sambrook) Hudspath, along with several nieces and nephews.
Harold was born January 29, 1925, attended Farmingdale and Gardiner schools and served in the Navy during WWII.
He continued the family custom woodworking business, George E. Colby and Son, in Gardiner, was a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, American Legion and the Masonic Bodies.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying duck hunting and fishing.
Memorial celebration 1 p.m., Mon., June 18 at the New Maine Veterans Cemetery Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta.
