Harry H. Robinson, of Jefferson, passed away at his home on April 14 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 5, 1923 in Staten Island to Harry Sr. and Jenny (Wincapaw) Robinson.
He received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Stevens Institute in 1944 and his Masters in Metallurgy from Stevens in 1946. During WWII he served in the Navy and worked on Sonar Development at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. He was on the Board of Directors of the Staten Island YMCA, serving as its Chairman in 1968, when he was named “Man of the Year”. He retired as a General Manager from AIRCO in 1980 and moved to Maine where he owned and operated Damariscotta Lake Farm Restaurant and Cottage Community until he retired in 1990. Known by many as “one of the nicest, most generous people they have known; a true gentleman”.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Arlene (Westrich) Robinson; sons, Steven and Russell; daughters, Sherril Bunyea and Randi Robinson; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Viewing 6-8 p.m., Fri., April 18 at Strong Funeral Home in Damariscotta. A Mass of celebration of Harry’s life 11 am., Sat., April 19 at St. Patrick’s Church in Newcastle.
