She liked to paint with oils and was a student of Virginia Powell. She and her husband enjoyed skiing and spent many weekends at Sugarloaf. Hazel loved nature, walking in the woods and bird watching. They enjoyed boating and family picnics in the summer months. She was very interested in home health remedies and nutrition from natural sources.
She and her husband John accompanied Milton and Millie Masters to the 40th D-Day celebration in England and France. They also enjoyed traveling to other locations in this country and Canada. She was interested in local history and stayed up on all the world news and current events, reading the newspaper every day.
Hazel was an avid Red Sox fan and watched every game for years.
She was a 50-year member of the University of Maine Extension Classes, a member of the Bristol Ladies Aid, Pemaquid Neighborly Club, Pemaquid Historical Society and other clubs and organizations over the years. She loved contributing and participating with bake sales and craft fairs.
