Helen Adams Davis, 86, of Boothbay Harbor, died July 24 at St. Andrews Hospital in Boothbay Harbor.
She was born Feb. 12, 1921, in Fitchburg, Mass., the daughter of Ralph Enoch Adams and Martha Squires Billings Adams. She grew up in Fitchburg and moved to Maine after high school.
She met Leighton M. Davis in Boothbay Harbor and they married on July 5, 1939, in Fitchburg. They lived in Massachusetts until 1952 when they moved back to Boothbay Harbor.
Helen was a private caregiver for many years. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor and the Women’s Fellowship at the church. She and Mabel Brackett used to work for the Hospital Auxiliary Store for many years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Leighton M. Davis, who died on Feb. 7, 1980; two brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by six children, Donna Lee Closson and husband Jerry, Sr. of Boothbay Harbor, Peter W. Davis and wife Claire of Coral Springs, Fla. and Boothbay, Leigh P. Davis and wife Pamela of Boothbay, B. Thomas Davis and wife Barbara of Boothbay, Bonnie D. Lewis and husband Craig of Boothbay, and Linda Lou Storey and husband Robert, Sr. of Cumberland; brother, Donald Adams of Athol, Mass.; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service 10 a.m., Fri., July 27 at the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor with the Rev. Sarah Foulger officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Boothbay.
