Helen Dorothy Brewer, 79, of Boothbay Harbor, died Dec. 7 at the Gregory Wing at St. Andrews Village in Boothbay Harbor. Helen was born Jan. 30, 1931 in Bath to Everett and Lorraine Gilliam King. She married Stillman P. Brewer. Helen was always at Stillman’s side whether they were digging for clams, worms or fishing.
Helen was well-liked by the staff at the Boothbay Transfer Station. She would often bring the staff muffins and the staff created a parking spot especially for Helen. She loved to read and sew. She was very civic-minded and socially conscious and would often write her opinions to the editor of the Boothbay Register. She will be missed by her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Stillman P. Brewer who died in 1993 and by sisters, Winona, Sylvia and Louise.
She is survived by a brother-in-law, Edward Brewer of Barter’s Island; sisters-in-law, Irma Heaberlin of Boothbay Harbor and Nancy McKnight of Pemaquid; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside service 11 a.m., Sat., Dec. 11 at the Evergreen Cemetery, Barter’s Island Rd., Boothbay. Al Roberts will officiate.
