Helena S. Perkins, 82, of Boothbay Harbor, passed away Dec. 26 at St. Andrews Gregory Wing, Boothbay Harbor.
She was born June 10, 1925, in Fairhaven, Mass., a daughter of Clifford A. Sherman and Dorothy Robertson Sherman. She grew up in Wareham, Mass. and attended local schools. She graduated from Easton High School.
She married Frank E. Perkins on Nov. 27, 1947. They lived in Wells before moving to Boothbay Harbor in 1955. She was a homemaker. She loved spending time at Square Pond in North Shapleigh sitting in the rocking chair on the screened-in porch talking and listening to the loons. She enjoyed her flower gardens, bird watching, and cooking. She also enjoyed making baked goods, especially apple pie.
She was predeceased by a son, Brian A. Perkins and brother, Clifford Sherman.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Frank E. Perkins, Sr. of Boothbay Harbor; sons, Stephen Perkins of Edgecomb, Douglas Perkins and his significant other Jill Marsh of Boothbay Harbor and Frank E. Perkins, Jr. and wife Laurie of Edgecomb; daughter, Anne Sawyer and husband Robert of Otisfield; grandchildren, Heather Oakes of Topsham, and Tyler and Seth Sawyer, both of Otisfield; great-grandson, Hazen Oakes of Boothbay; sister-in-law, Betty Olivier of Northeaston, Mass.; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral 1 p.m., Mon., Dec. 31 at Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home, 975 Wiscasset Rd., Boothbay. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Boothbay.
