Henry F. Lessner, 63, of South Bristol and most recently Damariscotta, passed away at Sedgewood Commons in Falmouth on the morning of Jan. 4. Born on Dec. 24, 1950, he was the son of Frank and Frances (Jones) Lessner.
Henry grew up in South Bristol and attended schools there. While living in South Bristol he helped on a lobster boat, mowed lawns for summer people, and would occasionally help Buddy House on delivery trips out of state.
He loved to walk, and was often seen on the roads heading into South Bristol to see the action. After his father’s death, his mother and he moved to Damariscotta where his walks continued. He would talk to anybody (especially the ladies) and would immediately love anybody who would talk to him. He especially loved animals and had a very natural way with them.
Henry was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Frances Lessner.
He is survived by his sisters, Therese Hopkins and husband Ronnie of Damariscotta, Debbie Lessner and boyfriend Scott Burke of Nobleboro, and Norma Stillson of Portland; brother, Wayne Lessner and wife Sarah of Corinna; and many nieces and nephews who affectionately called him “Uncle Boo.”
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Sat., Jan. 18 at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter, PO Box 7, Edgecomb, ME 04556.
