Herbert Charles Maynard, Jr., 55, of Boothbay Harbor, died suddenly on May 17 at his residence.
Mr. Maynard was born Sept. 6, 1951 in Weymouth, Mass., the son of Herbert Charles and Nancy Swasey Maynard. He attended schools in Whitman, Mass. and Boothbay, graduating from Boothbay Regional High School in 1970.
Mr. Maynard, an accomplished carpenter, worked for Old Winterport Homes, Inc. during the 1970’s. While living in Augusta, he was the maintenance manager for the apartment complex where he resided.
Beginning in his school years, he had a love for music. Playing the guitar, he formed the band, Hero’s of the Seaweed. He continued to play, write music and jam with other musicians throughout his life. When he wasn’t playing music, he did odd jobs for neighbors and friends, doing small construction and repair jobs.
He is predeceased by a brother, Keith Maynard; and father, Herbert C. Maynard, Sr.
Survivors include a daughter, Joya Maynard of Searsmont; sons, Keith Maynard of Waldo, and Shale Maynard of Boothbay Harbor; his mother and stepfather, Nancy and Warren Cheever of Freeport; brother, Wayne Maynard of Duxbury, Mass.; sisters, Sandy Maynard of Portland and Kerrin Erhard of Boothbay; four nephews; and a friend, Chris Wilkie of Boothbay Harbor.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
