Herbert H. Bartlett, of Bremen, died unexpectedly on Nov. 23 in Reston, Va.
He was born in Chelsea, Mass, on Oct. 29, 1928. He served in the U.S. Navy following WWII, and traveled as far as Antarctica in Operation High Jump with Admiral Richard Byrd in 1946-47. That life experience provided him with the opportunity to attend Northeastern University and earn an engineering degree.
After college, he began his career with Metals and Controls, later acquired by Texas Instruments. Starting in sales, he was promoted to various engineering management positions, retiring after a long and distinguished career.
Herb and his beloved wife, Connie, resided in Attleboro, Mass. for 38 years. He was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. Grampie always supported his children and grandchildren in all of their activities and was unselfishly dedicated to them.
Herb was a former active member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Attleboro, Mass. and past president of Bearcroft Swim and Tennis Club of Attleboro. He was an avid golfer, and member of Highland Country Club in Attleboro and Wawenock Golf Club in Walpole.
Upon retirement, Herb and Connie moved to Bremen and wintered on Sanibel Island, Fla. In his retirement, he tirelessly maintained his idyllic property on Webber Pond.
He was predeceased by parents, Harold and Lavinia Bartlett, and sisters, Violet Finlayson and Marion Lonnberg.
Herb is survived by his loving wife, Constance, whom he shared his life with for 58 years; daughters, Susan Foy (Mark) of Round Hill, Va., Karen J. Capece of Attleboro, Mass., and Jeffrey S. Bartlett of Niantic, Conn.; grandchildren, Andrew, Kathryn and Christopher Foy, Krista, Danielle, and Caroline Capece, Jeffrey Jr., Kevin, Zachary, Jane, and Jillian Bartlett; nephew, Donald Lonnberg; and niece, Janice Broderick.
Close friends and family are invited to a celebration of his life 4-6 p.m., Sun., Dec. 2 at the Colonel Blackinton Inn, 203 North Main St., Attleboro, Mass.
