Hilda B. Parlin, of Waldoboro, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2024 after a brief stay at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta. She was born Aug. 15, 1928, to Ralph and Myrtle (Hunt) McLain and was raised in Bremen with her siblings, Marjorie, Douglas, Celia, Elsie, and Herbert.
In March of 1946 she married Willard Parlin (deceased). They moved to West Waldoboro where they raised their five children.
She was employed by GTE Sylvania for over 34 years. Bored with retirement, she spent the next 14 years working as a caregiver/companion to several elderly local residents.
Hilda was always very hard working, but found time for her many interests: quilting, rug braiding, sewing, crocheting, gardening, and preserving food, cooking, and enjoying her many friends and family.
Her strong will and independence served her well, affording her the ability to live alone at home until her stay at Cove’s Edge.
She is survived by her sister, Celia Ramsdell; and her five children: Herman Parlin and wife, Sharon, of Scarborough, Patricia Aboud and husband, Bill, of Cushing, Irma Wotton and husband, Blake, of Friendship, Ricky Parlin and fiance, Linda, of Waldoboro, and Shelia Ball and husband, David, of Cumberland. She is also survived by her many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; as well as her dear friend, Paula Martineau, of Rochester, N.H.
It was her wish that there be no public service commemorating her life, however, memories and condolences may be shared with the family at directcremationofmaine.com.
